The Forest

The system of veins looks like it is living on its own. We can clearly see those little rivers in black and white. An ecosystem that people have never noticed before. Also, because nobody has taken a super macro shot of a four-meter-long American crocodile before.

This is a one-of-a-kind super macro shot of the eye of a wild, living crocodile. It took three years and many attempts to get it. Assuming a crocodile showed up at all, there were many days where they were simply not interested in modeling for my camera!

This photo has not been cropped in width – it was taken from a distance of 8.5cm between the lens and the crocodile’s eye. Getting the correct distance was a challenge. Getting familiar enough with the crocodile to achieve this closeness was even harder.
